  1. Ranjan, enjoyed your rafting piece, gives me ideas! Re Barefoot it is surrounded by not very attractive forest with no view of the sea or beach. I much prefer the places on the other side of the island which have some brilliant restaurants and where you can walk along the beach without running into the huge crowds of Leave Travellers every evening. Also overpriced. But you cant say any of this. That is the problem with sponsored travel writing. Incidentally, the pieces should mention they were sponsored.

With restrictions on foreign travel places within the country are going to become much more frequented. Come back to Pachmarhi man!

    1. Thanks for reading Prabhu. This rafting article was actually published in the March issue of NGT well before Covid-19 became the global nightmare issue that it is today 😱 😱

About Barefoot Havelock I don’t agree with you at all about the sea view or the forest. I think it was the most spectacular beach I have seen anywhere in India, comparable to the best in SE Asia. I wonder even if we are talking about the same thing 😕😕 Please have a look at my other two pieces on the Andamans https://www.makemytrip.com/blog/barefoot-at-havelock and https://www.makemytrip.com/blog/colonial-heritage-of-andamans

As far as being hosted by the resort I always try to make that clear in the piece and it is in any case commonly understood that this is how professional travel writers do what they do. It would not stop me from making an adverse comment on the resort if it were a serious issue: that would be compromising my ethics and integrity. Hope you understand.

Finally as far as Barefoot Havelock goes the entire family experience for myself, Saroj and the girls was marvellous every step of the way so I was not faced with any such professional conflict. I would thoroughly recommend it as THE best place to stay on Havelock Island 👍👍👍

    1. Thanks Frank ! Yes indeed it now sounds like a distant memory. But hopefully it will all begin to come back gradually. This article was actually published in the March issue of NGT well before Covid-19 became the global nightmare issue that it is today 😱😱

  2. Hi Polly

    1. Thank you Deepi ! Yes the summer season seems shot for the rafting outfitters that I am in touch with. This article was actually published in the March issue of NGT well before Covid-19 became the global nightmare issue that it is today 😱😱

  3. Hi Polly,
Great, but are you trying to rub salt into our wounds?
Now in in the world during and after Covid you will need to change your stories to the genre of Fantasy Travel Fiction.
    Keep on staying in.

    1. Thanks Shaggy !
